Foundations of Private Equity Ops

Location: New York

Next Class Date: TBD

Taught By: Lee Dranikoff

Operating professionals are usually experienced, talented professionals who have succeeded in many situations often in industry or consulting.  But then they join a PE Ops role and find that the role is not straightforward.  It can be hard to figure out what to work on, what is valued by the PE Firm, how to move management, how to demonstrate value in an industry that is famously quantitative.  PE itself is a whole new language that no one explains. And the whole role hinges on building relationships across the triangle of investment teams, Ops Professionals and management teams, each of which has a slightly different lens on the work.

We designed this class to provide, the tools, knowledge and skills that operating professionals need to excel in PE Ops.

You Will Leave with a Solid Foundation of Skills Including:

  • Clarity on how your work inflects the drivers of value creation

  • How Ops professionals are measured and how to communicate the value

  • How to build a pipeline of work and prioritize it

  • Understanding the relationship triangle and how to communicate with each constituency

  • How to build an internal brand

  • How Ops professionals succeed and how they fail

  • The role of specialized tools including: project proposals, Value creation plans, pipelining

  • Clarity on the basics of PE, your role, and how your role ties to your Firms strategy
