Marc Hodak

Mr. Hodak is a Partner at Farient Advisors. He has over 30 years of experience providing advice on executive and director compensation. He focuses on designing incentive programs that align compensation with business strategy and value creation. His experience extends across multiple industries including consumer products, manufacturing, media and entertainment, energy, financial services, health care, real estate, technology, telecommunications and transportation.
Mr. Hodak works closely with senior management, boards of directors, and investors, in both public and private companies, to develop executive compensation programs that are shareholder-friendly, attractive to management, and responsive to the needs and concerns of boards. He is a recognized thought leader in incentive plan design, and has been published in numerous magazines including NACD/Directorship, Directors & Boards, and Forbes as well as in academic journals. He been extensively quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, and other publications and is a sought-after speaker at forums and conferences throughout the U.S. and Europe on executive compensation, corporate governance, and managing for value. Mr. Hodak has been twice named to the Directorship 100 of the most influential people in the boardroom.
Mr. Hodak has taught corporate governance as a professor at NYU’s Stern School and as visiting lecturer at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland for over ten years.
Prior to joining Farient, Mr. Hodak was the principal at Hodak Value Advisors, a performance and compensation consultancy. Previous to that, Mr. Hodak led value-based management implementations and related projects for Stern Stewart & Co. where he also led the creation of alternative delivery of intellectual capital to clients, including development of software and internet-based training on value-based management principles and applications used in 17 countries.
Prior to consulting, Mr. Hodak was a manager at Conrail, where he led the automotive vehicle distribution business.
Mr. Hodak earned his MBA in Finance at the Wharton School following a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland.
